I was listening to a radio interview this morning on one of those early morning business shows.
When the Managing Director was asked what made his business special one of the things he said was “When our clients ring up they get to speak to a real person who knows what they are talking about..someone who can really help them”
Strangely, it probably is a USP
Hmm…we’ve come a long way!

We have indeed Greg! But finding a “real person” not just a human can be a challenge in itself.

Imagine the advert ….”real person required ..must know what they are talking about” !!

Machines tend to agitate the customer a lot more so when/if they do get in contact with a “real person”, they can be a lot more irate than when they first picked up the phone. Some companies who use people, instead of machines, describe themselves as having a high customer satisfaction level. I think it’s just because they can have a two-way communication stream with the customer to solve the problem initially. But that’s just me!

Speaking to a real person makes all the difference but I think it also needs to be someone who:
* Shows that they actually want to help you
* Is able to do so
* Doesn’t want to sell you a product they’re running a campaign on

I never had the pleasure when I was in the UK. I can imagine though!
The banks were terrible for it as well. “My insurance is fine, leave it alone!”

Exactly! “Our service is rubbish. Would you like some more of it?”
