Cynical won’t do a job for me today

Cynical

A few things happened yesterday that left me going to bed feeling quite tired and cynical.

I woke up this morning with that same feeling.

Cynical isn’t going to do a job for me today or any day for that matter so I need to make a choice.

Cynical ..forget it

Well said. The official title for the head of our organisation is ‘Chief Optimist’. I spend most days reading and writing about pretty awful stuff (violence agains kids and child abuse mostly) so it’s easy to take a dim view of the world. I get a hell of a lot more done when I focus on the good we can do rather than the bad that others are doing though. And the overall air of optimism in the office means we are getting an awful lot done with a very small but dedicated team.

You are so right Fabio – what are you working on now?

I’m working on a project to improve the communications and advocacy efforts of NGOs involved in preventing violence against children. We’re working with the International Rescue Committee, UNICEF, EuroChild, Save the Children, and a few more smaller organisations. It’s great work. A mix of research, writing and project managing designers and film makers. And plenty of social media training and support as well of course. We’re based in Berlin but we’re working with people all around the world.

It sounds fantastic and slightly rewarding than previous projects!
